The Science Matters For Kids® program has been taught in various programs (daycare centers, preschools, after care centers and community centers) and offered as birthday parties since 2008. While we think it’s an amazing program, don’t just take our word for it! Here’s what various programs, parents, and party planners and guests have to say about Science Matters!

Thank you for making science FUN for the Children at Helen K. Baldwin!
Laura & The HKB Nursery School Teachers & Board
Miss Carleen & Science Matters is a great science program. She is able to introduce ‘real’ science terms to young children in a fun and exciting way. The children are always ready to see what Miss Carleen has in her science box. The program is a great way to add to our curriculum and continue to develop the children’s love of science!
Stephanie – Owner, Tutor Time of Livingston
When I attended a class by the “Science Lady”, I was very impressed, not only by her lesson, but by the fact that in the short time allotted, the children in my group learned about aerodynamics, air, wind, etc. They answered questions enthusiastically and really showed knowledge about the subject matter. I reiterate, I was very impressed! They learned something!
Paula N. – PrimeTime Aftercare teacher (1st grade)
After observing an introductory class of Science Matters, I was very impressed with the content of the class and with the presentation itself. The lesson was at the level that the children understood and they enjoyed and learned from it. After each class, the children come back happy, excited and eager to share about their experience.
Ms. Ruth – Pre-K teacher, Central Jersey
My class loves going to the science presentations! We always know that we are going to learn a lot and have lots of fun!
Pamela S. – Preschool teacher, North Jersey
They [Science Matters For Kids] do a great job involving children in the wonderful world of science. The hands-on approach with guided and inquiry discovery methods allow children to explore, create, learn and remember and then apply. Could not recommend them more. Ms. Barra does a great job each and every time she visits our class. She is able to gear the lesson to the age she is working with and picks up quickly on how to extend or expand the lesson based upon the children’s needs. The parents love to hear about it as they review the lesson and hear all about it as they share their take home project.

I can’t tell you how much we love your program. Miss Stacey is simply PHENOMENAL. She is fun, engaging, entertaining and simply AMAZING!

Parents
Wednesday nights became our favorite after our daughter began her weekly science class with What Matters For Kids. Not only did she count down the days each week for her class, but we enjoyed the take home projects as a family. We flew paper airplanes, caught fireflies and made rainbows just to name a few! This class was a lot of fun for all and we can not wait for it to begin again!
-Jackie V. – Mom of a preschooler, Colonia, NJ
What a wonderful program! My daughter raves about science day, she cannot wait to tell us about what she learned and enjoys working on the take home experiments.
Melissa T. – Mom of a preschooler, Atlantic Highlands, NJ
What I loved about the science class was that she always came home talking about it animatedly and remembered specific things she learned. So, you guys are doing something right!! For example, she came home talking about how some of the magnets stuck together and some scooted away. She explained to us about the esophagus and how you could even swallow if you were upside down. And she explained to us why poop is brown (although I doubt you’d want to use that, lol).
I used to be a science educator too — hands-on is the best way!!
Kelly G. – Mom of a preschooler, Basking Ridge, NJ
Scarlett talks about Ms. Stacey all the time . She is definitely a credit to your program as Scarlett loves the lessons with her and I’m delighted the science classes will continue as she starts Mountain Hill. From the class, Scarlett has developed a fascination with creating her own experiments, whether indoors or outdoors. Best part of our week is science class day when we get home and she rushes to show us her latest experiment.
Sharon M. – Mom of preschooler, Atlantic Highlands, NJ
Thank you for an amazing year of science for Ben! He had so much fun each week and was always so excited to come home and tell me what he learned!
Mom of preschooler, Basking Ridge, NJ
My five-year-old son has a ton of energy and a very curious nature which can get him into trouble if he’s too bored or not in the right environment. The Science Matters class was the perfect after school activity — not only did he learn important, age-appropriate and FUN lessons each week, he was in a structured, safe environment with a teacher I knew I could trust. Even better, he received take-home materials and projects so we could extend the experience and enjoy more meaningful time together at home.
Mom of preschooler, East Hanover, NJ
Unlike class leaders at many local programs, Ms. Carleen is clearly a seasoned teacher who brought just the right balance of “firm” and “fun”– I always knew my son would be in good hands, and he loved learning with her. Just one look at the classroom and it was easy to see that she was super-organized and always well-prepared. I look forward to enrolling him in future classes with What Matters for Kids!
Tess F. – Mom of Cranford, NJ Community Center Student
Isabella absolutely loves your class. My husband did the crystals in the jar project with her. She was so excited. She wanted a science lab for Christmas!
Antoinette V. – Parent of a preschooler, East Hanover, NJ
We all love your program. Each time when my kids come back from Science, they were always excited to tell me all the interesting things that happened! You’ve put so much fun into an educational program. We will take your classes whenever we can! Thanks!
Mrs. Cui – Parent of two aftercare students
Daniel has thoroughly enjoyed the Science Matters classes and looks forward to them. He takes pride in being able to explain to us at home what he’s learned. I especially like how he is sent home after each class with instructions on how to do the experiments, so we can see what he’s done and try it with him at home. Thank you for making science fun!
Emily S. – Parent of an aftercare student
Gavin LOVES the program..and has learned so much from you this summer.
Kerry J. – Parent of an aftercare student
We want to thank you for offering such a great program. My kids, Meg and Kyle, always talk about what they learned on your science classes. That Mentos in soda was surely some explosion they will never forget.

Thank you so much for making my 5th birthday party so special. I had a blast at my party and so did my friends. The experiments were so much fun and everyone loved the favors. Thanks also for the bouncing balls gift! See you in class on Thursday.

I cannot thank you enough for making Kristen’s 5th birthday party a huge hit. She’s still talking about the experiments with the dry ice.
Stefanie F. – Mom of the birthday girl
What you did for Conor’s birthday was just Awesome!!! Everyone loved it!! Especially the Birthday Boy 🙂 Thanks so much!! We’ll be recommending it to everyone!
Trish R. – Mom of the birthday boy
The Science Matters birthday party experience is truly a BLAST — I’ve seen it first hand with kids from 3-8 and the faces and exclamations of “Whoa! no way!?” and “That’s AWESOME” can’t be beat!! When the Science Lady says “Hey, do you want to see a bigger explosion?!” — there’s no stopping the excitement!
