If you’ve been slammed with cold and snow like we have here at WMFK Central, you’re probably looking for ideas for playing with snow that don’t involve making another snowman!
Well, we have a sweet idea for you!
Make SNOW ICE CREAM!
- Go outside and collect 4-5 cups of FRESH clean white snow
(you can also put out a large pot during a storm to collect directly into the pot!)
Make sure to choose fresh fallen snow and if you didn’t collect into a pot, select from the top layers – if you find flecks of unknowns in your snow, discard it and look for cleaner snow! - Mix ½ cup sugar and 1 tsp vanilla with 1 cup milk or half & half
(non-fat milk does not work well, trust us on this!)
You can also use sweetened condensed milk, but then you’d want to omit or use much less sugar! - Stir milk mixture into the snow and mix well until you have an ice cream consistency.
- Serve immediately!
Experiment with the recipe, toppings, and timing.
How do you think other variables might affect the outcome?
[This is a great way to get your parents to let you eat lots of ice cream! Its all for science!]
